SQE Focus – What is Qualifying Work Experience?
Thursday, 16 September 2021Practical training has long been a part of the route to qualifying as a solicitor. The idea is that real life experience of providing legal services is essential to acquire the necessary skills for practice. Such training has had various names, most recently ‘period of recognised training, before that ‘training contract, before that, ‘articles of clerkship’ and in its latest guise, ‘Qualifying work experience’ or QWE as it is widely known. Whatever it’s been called, it has been necessary to complete a period of practical training in order to satisfy the regulatory requirements for entry to the roll of solicitors.

SQE 101: Guidance for aspiring solicitors
Friday, 20 August 2021The route to qualifying as a solicitor in England and Wales has changed. In September, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is introducing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) which will eventually replace the current Legal Practice Course (LPC).

The College of Legal Practice announces SQE1 and SQE2 preparation courses
Monday, 22 February 2021The College of Legal Practice today announces its Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) preparation courses. Designed to be more affordable, more flexible and more accessible, its ‘Developing Legal Professionals’ (DLP) programme helps prepare students to pass the SQE1 and SQE2 examinations, as well as developing the skills and competencies they need to succeed in the legal industry.
