SRA board backs radical changes to separate business rule
Thursday, 4 June 2015The Solicitors Regulation Authority approved a radical overhaul of the separate business rule at its board meeting yesterday, despite strong opposition from the Law Society. The changes are planned to come into force on 1 November this year.

Little interest from solicitors in third-party client accounts, survey suggests

Immigration lawyer who lied to High Court is struck off
Tuesday, 26 May 2015A solicitor who lied to High Court and was found guilty of contempt – leading the now Lord Chief Justice to refer him to the Solicitors Regulation Authority – has been struck off by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.

Larger law firms switch to new SRA competence regime

High Court rejects challenge to closure of ABS from solicitor who “lost ethical compass”

SRA widens definition of ‘small firms’ by doubling turnover limit

High Court halves solicitor’s “excessive and inappropriate” suspension
