SDT shows “humanity” with low-level sanction for solicitor convicted of stalking
Thursday, 16 March 2017A solicitor convicted of stalking her husband’s former lover has been fined £1,000 by the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. In what it described as “wholly exceptional circumstances”, the tribunal said that “the reputation of the profession is enhanced by some consideration of humanity”.

Solicitor fined for failing to read “grossly misleading” JR claim forms
Monday, 6 March 2017Complaints about the work of solicitors handling immigration appeals have finally reached the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, which has fined a solicitor £10,000 for acting recklessly by signing judicial review claim forms with inaccurate grounds of appeal and failing to supervise an employee who drafted the applications.

Solicitor applies to vary disciplinary condition – and admits he’s already breached it

SDT strikes off partner who faked ledger and “overcharged by nearly 1,000%”
Monday, 24 October 2016The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has struck off a partner for dishonestly misappropriating funds from deceaseds’ estates and in one case overcharging by almost 1,000%. He admitted that the ledger given to the SRA was “a work of fiction” and that he had spent two or three days preparing it.

Second time unlucky for solicitors as SDT repeats strike off verdict

SDT suspends solicitor who ignored practice restrictions

SDT slams regulator for “shambolic” handling of banking facility case

SDT strikes off solicitor who left “trail of destruction” behind her
Thursday, 22 September 2016The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has struck off a solicitor after she was convicted on four counts of providing immigration advice or immigration services while suspended from practice. The judge at Luton Magistrates’ Court had described “a trail of destruction towards vulnerable people she left in her wake”.
