On-the-run former solicitor jailed for £1m stamp duty fraud
Tuesday, 30 September 2014A former solicitor who stole almost £1m through stamp duty fraud has been sentenced to ten years in jail. Shameer Sacranie, 40, from Leicester is believed to have fled the country and was sentenced in his absence last week.

Solicitor who “robbed Peter to pay Paul” struck off for mishandling estates

Jail for solicitor who kept on practising after being struck off

Number of solicitors sanctioned by SDT falls sharply

LCJ uses Nightjack case to warn lawyers who mislead court of “exemplary punishments”

Solicitor suspended over boiler-room scam

Solicitor went bankrupt to “prove dishonesty claim” against opposing law firm
Monday, 14 July 2014The High Court has dismissed an appeal against a disciplinary sanction imposed on a solicitor who refused to pay a wasted costs order, and then went bankrupt as “the only way in which he could secure evidence to support his assertions of dishonesty” against a law firm and its barrister.
