Eight PI brands dominate web searches as market fails to make best of social media, says report

Lawyers told: don’t be put off social media by barrister fined over tweets
Friday, 3 February 2012Lawyers were this week told not to be discouraged from embracing social media after a barrister who was among the legal pioneers on Twitter was fined for messages he posted on the service. However, the case does raise questions over the role of regulators in policing lawyers’ activity on Twitter.

Firms using social media to broadcast rather than converse, survey finds
Monday, 17 October 2011Bigger law firms are embracing social media but then failing to engage in two-way communications through it, new research has found. The survey found that nearly half of the firms prohibited staff from accessing social networks from work, even though clients were keen to interact that way.

Law firms warming to social media but retain concerns about the cloud
Tuesday, 24 May 2011Lawyers are warming to the use of social media in their practices but have reservations about risks associated with cloud computing, according to a major survey of law firm IT personnel. Three-quarters of the 712 specialists surveyed said they felt positive about social media as a tool to deliver value to their firms.
