RSM Legal LLP has been listed in The Legal 500 for the first time, ranking among the UK’s best firms for corporate and commercial partnership advice.

‘The Supreme Court has today decided that the Government introduction of Tribunal Fees in 2013 was unlawful under both UK and EU law. It also decided that it was discriminatory because the fee level bore no relation to the cost of a specific claim. The Supreme Court accepted that fees put women at a particular disadvantage.

Last week HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) announced the outcome of their consultation on partnership taxation. Their proposal for new legislation will form part of the second Finance Bill 2017 and is expected to become law in April 2018.

Commenting on the Government review of the impact of the introduction of Employment Tribunal fees, employment lawyer Carolyn Brown, who heads RSM’s client legal services practice said: ‘The long awaited Government review into the impact on access to justice of the introduction in 2013 of fees charging for Tribunal claims has found the resulting reduction in claims was greater than expected.
