Referral fee ban will not catch solicitors’ collective marketing schemes, Djanogly affirms

The referral fees hospital pass
Thursday, 14 June 2012It is no great secret that the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) sees its role in enforcing the government’s ban on referral fees in personal injury as a hospital pass. It would much rather that paying or receiving a referral fee be made a criminal offence and taken out of its hands. After all, the SRA (in its previous guise as part of the Law Society) has been down this road before and it wasn’t a happy experience.

Bar calls on judges to halt solicitor “abuse” of QASA
Monday, 21 May 2012The Bar has called on judges to block solicitors appearing before them as plea-only advocates under the Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates. There were also calls for action to end the “corrupt practice” of criminal defence solicitors demanding referral fees.

Leaked e-mail reveals ABI mulling bid to slash RTA portal fee from £1,200 to £150

LASPO: government suffers two defeats over legal aid for children, tightens referral fee ban
