Claimant lawyers urge colleagues to tell SRA about firms running bogus holiday sickness claims

National Accident Helpline plots second ABS joint venture

From leads to legal advice: National Accident Helpline sets up ABS
Friday, 26 May 2017NAHL, the marketing business that owns National Accident Helpline, is to launch its own law firm after being awarded an alternative business structure licence and signing a deal with Cardiff-based NewLaw Solicitors. It will trade under the name Your Law LLP and is expected to start business on 1 July.

Personal injury firm sold multi-track work after “sudden and unexpected” rejection by bank
Tuesday, 23 May 2017A personal injury firm was forced to sell its multi-track work at a “considerable” loss after the “sudden and unexpected” withdrawal of support from its bank, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has heard as it fined two partners and a non-lawyer partner for retaining unpaid professional disbursements in its office account.

New APIL chief urges SRA to act over solicitors taking referrals from cold-callers

Tories pledge whiplash reform and “stronger” legal services regulation

What’s in a name? Appeal judges reject pleas of claimant who sued wrong firm
Tuesday, 16 May 2017Appeal judges have rejected the pleas of a claimant who, faced by two law firms with similar names set up by the same solicitor, sued the wrong one. The court heard how Godfrey Morgan Solicitors and Godfrey Morgan Solicitors Limited were run “in parallel, as distinct businesses”.
