Riverview unveils “groundbreaking” fixed-fee divorce service for wealthy couples
Tuesday, 8 May 2012Riverview Law has today launched a barrister-led service for high net-worth couples that it claims is the first to publish and guarantee the cost of divorce. The initial conference costs from £1,000 for a junior and £2,000 for a QC.

Leaked e-mail reveals ABI mulling bid to slash RTA portal fee from £1,200 to £150
Tuesday, 1 May 2012The Association of British Insurers may call for the fixed fees payable under the RTA portal to be slashed by nearly 90% to £150 as part of its negotiation strategy, a leaked e-mail has revealed.

Co-op to launch family law service in London before nationwide roll-out
Monday, 30 April 2012Co-operative Legal Services will this summer launch its family law service in London before rolling it out nationwide, director Christina Blacklaws has revealed. From launch CLS will provide the full range of family law services, and has a legal aid contract.

Ombudsman tells lawyers: sort out your pricing or risk losing work to "nakedly commercial enterprises"
Tuesday, 6 March 2012Lawyers must provide clearer pricing information to their clients or risk losing out to new entrants to the market, the Legal Ombudsman (LeO) has warned. LeO today issued a report on the problems issues around cost causes consumers, accounting for up to a quarter of all of its investigations.

RTA portal set for extension in April 2013 as MoJ begins process of cutting lawyers’ fees
