Law firm enters the Dragon’s den with Caan investment

Biggest debt recovery firm eyes acquisitions and is “open” to external investment

We have all recognised that this option no longer exists – or does it? The reality is that if you have a good solid history and a sound business plan, then most of the banks will still provide this badly needed access to capital. Prospect of MDPs "catching the imagination" of large law firms, survey finds
Tuesday, 14 February 2012Large law firms are showing increasing interest in forming multi-disciplinary practices with non-lawyer professionals, according to new research. The survey of 126 of the top 250 firms by accountants Smith & Williamson found that a third are interested in joining with a non-legal practice.

Consumers call for fixed fees as small law firms struggle
Tuesday, 17 January 2012Law firms and other legal providers that offer consumers fixed fees “are likely to have a clear competitive advantage” over those that bill by the hour, new research has shown. It also forecasts that the legal market will grow this year, mainly thanks to larger law firms, with smaller ones struggling.

Law firm investor in talks with more than 25 practices

However, In-Deed’s half-year results have revealed a very slow start to its online conveyancing business, with only 120 instructions in four months.
