Law Society report: City firms consider themselves “way ahead” on diversity
Tuesday, 3 February 2015The big City firms believe they are “way ahead” of the Law Society on diversity and inclusion, a report for the society has found. But the only LBGT network that had supported the victim of a homophobic comment was at a large City firm.

Retiring law firm partners to be offered short cut to senior judiciary
Friday, 14 November 2014There is to be a drive to recruit retiring law firm partners to the senior judiciary in a bid to improve diversity, it has emerged. The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas, said he is looking at a “more sensible way” of recruiting partners who retire early onto the High Court bench.

Law firms and chambers told to up their game on diversity or face “nuclear” option of quotas

SRA to give law firms online tool to compare how diverse they are
Thursday, 9 October 2014Law firms will be able to check the diversity data of similar practices from next month, the Solicitors Regulation Authority has said. This will give them confidence to improve their own diversity, the head of its equality committee said.

LSB: more needs to be done to break hold of the ‘elite’ on legal profession
