Exclusive: Software suppliers unite to launch free rival to Veyo
Monday, 7 September 2015A free version of conveyancing portal Veyo, called Free2Convey, is to be launched by the Legal Software Suppliers Association (LSSA) at the end of this month. Matt Lancaster, chair of the LSSA, said he hoped as many law firms as possible would use it.

Top five conveyancing firms gain most from property surge
Wednesday, 19 August 2015The top five conveyancing firms handled 10% more transactions in the second quarter of this year than in the same quarter the previous year, research has shown. However, the bottom half of the top 100 have showed the fastest growth over the past four years.

Hudson replaced as Veyo chair by turnaround specialist

Fairpoint buys Colemans-ctts
Monday, 3 August 2015Fairpoint Group has bought volume personal injury and conveyancing firm Colemans-ctts for £9m, plus a further £7m, linked to performance. The purchase brings Fairpoint’s income from consumer legal services to 62%.

Barnett “very surprised” by striking-off and considering appeal

Law firm should have warned property investors about “notoriously crime-ridden” Calabria

Solicitor escapes lack of integrity charge by pleading incompetence
Monday, 29 June 2015The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal has allowed a solicitor to continue to practise despite the fact he used “his incompetence as a shield” against the lack of integrity that was alleged, after he unwittingly facilitated a mortgage fraud that cost his lender client £744,000.

Big firms hit hardest by fall in conveyancing transactions, report finds
Monday, 8 June 2015The top five conveyancing firms handled 36% fewer transactions in the first quarter of this year, a report has found, and their market share dropped from 8% to 6%. On average, firms handled 14% fewer transactions and the number of firms also fell.

“Veyo will fail”, predicts CEO of UK’s biggest conveyancer

Veyo gets off the ground with 80 firms
Tuesday, 26 May 2015Veyo, the online conveyancing portal developed by the Law Society and IT giant Mastek, went live today with around 80 law firms taking part in the first phase. A much larger group of 1,800 firms which expressed an interest in the system will be able to join shortly.
