It is smart because CLS has proved various things by hiring Jenny Beck and Christina Blacklaws. Recruiting two of the best-known family lawyers around is convincing evidence that it is serious about family law and doing it right.

Co-op to move into family law after hiring high-profile solicitors

Co-op to extend bank branch pilot in bid to become consumers’ “lawyer of choice”
Friday, 26 August 2011Co-operative Legal Services is planning a more extensive pilot of face-to-face advice in its bank branches later this year as it bids to become consumers’ “lawyer of choice”, the company has confirmed. The Co-op has also merged its legal and funeral businesses.

Co-op pilots face-to-face legal advice in branches of Britannia
Tuesday, 7 June 2011The Co-operative has this week broken new ground by offering face-to-face legal services, combined with financial services advice, through the Britannia bank. The pilot could be the precuror to legal services being delivered through 350 branches of Britannia and the Co-operative Bank.

Co-op Legal Services reports strong growth as it gears up for ABS application
Thursday, 31 March 2011Co-operative Legal Services (CLS) continues to grow strongly, with income up nearly 20% in 2010, the Co-operative Group’s annual results have shown. Meanwhile, a spokesman has confirmed that CLS will apply for an alternative business structure licence at the earliest opportunity.

60% of people would buy legal advice from brands like Barclays, AA, Co-op and Virgin
Tuesday, 8 March 2011Three in five consumers would consider buying legal services from a range of consumer brands, a major piece of market research from YouGov has revealed. The work also found low recognition of any current legal brands, while a third of consumers said they would be attracted by online legal services.

Strong results for Co-op Legal Services
Friday, 26 March 2010Profits at Co-operative Legal Services more than doubled last year, preliminary figures have shown. Sales from the legal arm grew 45%, to £20 million, with operating profits up £2.1 million to £3.8 million.
