E-scooters – what’s legal & what’s not
Monday, 6 September 2021E-scooters seem to have been taking over the roads and pavements of English cities since summer 2020, with the Government e-scooter trials kicking off in July 2020 in Middlesbrough. However, there is confusion about what is and isn’t legal in the e-scooter world. Add in e-bikes and people are understandably unsure of what the rules actually are. Insurance? Roads or pavement riding? Can a retailer sell an e-scooter if they are illegal to ride anywhere but on private land? Is an e-bike the same as an e-scooter?

Restrictions removed, confusion remains! What is legal?
Wednesday, 28 July 2021Monday, 19 July was a significant day in the Covid-19 journey, with the majority of restrictions lifted within England. The two metre rule abolished, capacity restrictions removed, the government’s instruction to work from home reversed. Many had been anticipating this easing of restrictions, expecting it to be straightforward for businesses and individuals: we just go back to how things were before, right?

Legal disputes on the rise for UK businesses

Threats and complaints more than doubled in the last two years, with the five year picture even more damning. Over this period, more than half (56%) of all businesses have faced an accusation, claim or allegation of unlawful behaviour.

Sorry seems to be the hardest (and most expensive) word

Perhaps inevitably, as we get older and the mistakes and their consequences get larger, the apologies become more difficult but also more meaningful.
