Quindell adds major accident management business to law firm acquisition

Micro-managing LSB "risks independence of profession"

Consumers call for fixed fees as small law firms struggle
Tuesday, 17 January 2012Law firms and other legal providers that offer consumers fixed fees “are likely to have a clear competitive advantage” over those that bill by the hour, new research has shown. It also forecasts that the legal market will grow this year, mainly thanks to larger law firms, with smaller ones struggling.

The storm is coming – and a good thing too
Friday, 13 January 2012It’s all rather quiet on the alternative business structure front right now but don’t be fooled into thinking that nothing is happening. The Solicitors Regulation Authority has received around 50 stage-one applications for licensing in the first two weeks and is now starting to send out the main application form, which I understand is something of a whopper.

Co-op to ramp up staffing as it waits for ABS go-ahead
Thursday, 12 January 2012Co-operative Legal Services (CLS) has begun staffing its family division after launching what it described as the largest recruitment drive in its history. CLS is looking to appoint up to 150 new positions. It currently has around 400 staff.
