ILFM is the professional association for Legal Finance and Accounting Professionals, Legal Practice Management Professionals, Compliance Officers (COFAs), and other legal support professionals in England and Wales.
ILFM provides education, training, and continued development for its members, together with those who wish to become more confident, supported, and knowledgeable in legal finances, SRA Accounts Rules, compliance, and management of a law firm.
Training comes in the form of online, interactive, and live CPD accredited sessions and include topics such as SRA Accounts Rules, COFA Masterclasses, Practice Management, Legal Cashiering, VAT & Disbursements, and AML Compliance.
ILFM advocates diversity and inclusion and is a supporter of promoting roles for everyone in law firms.
Study is via our leading correspondence courses and available to all. Studies and exams in Legal Finance and Accounts Rules offer the ILFM Diploma (ILFMDip) qualification; and subsequent Associate Level (AILFM) qualifications contain four certificates to fulfil:
- Accounting for legal finance professionals
- Financial management
- Tax for legal finance professionals
- Legal practice management
There are exemptions for our courses, please email Helen@ilfm.org.uk for further information in this regard.
To qualify as an ILFM Fellow, applicants must be full associate members and have submitted a thesis of between 10,000 and 15,000 words, and accordingly present to a panel of ILFM professionals. All who pass both the thesis and the presentation will be appointed ILFM Fellows and can use the post-nominal designatory letters FIILM.
