Tikit launches timekeeping app via the Cloud

TikitCloud delivery provides more flexibility, heightened security, infrastructure, resource and deployment savings

Tikit, a global provider of technology solutions to legal and accountancy firms, today announced the availability of Carpe Diem, its flagship timekeeping application, as a cloud computing model. Effective immediately, existing Carpe Diem customers as well as prospective professional services organizations, can choose from traditional time recording on timesheets at the desktop; an easy to use interface for mobile devices/increased lawyer mobility; and now a cloud delivery option providing additional flexibility, cost control and security measures.

Used by over 100,000 professionals across four continents, Tikit Carpe Diem time recording suite has been designed to enable lawyers to seamlessly capture every bit of time with ease, while providing clients with the transparency they need. The release of Carpe Diem timekeeping in the cloud is a direct response to an evolving legal IT and legal business landscape that is focused on providing agile, user friendly, scalable, intuitive and, above all else, secure technology solutions to meet not only law firm but firm client service needs.

Mark Garnish, Tikit’s CTO and lead on the Carpe Diem cloud deployment, said: “Three years ago, we redeveloped Carpe Diem from the ground up and delivered not only a core infrastructure based on new technology but a new agile, mobile interface. The redevelopment positioned the product to enable a transition to a cloud delivery model and, working closely with Microsoft, we are delighted to announce we have completed the transition.

“In developing Carpe Diem for the cloud, we’ve listened to our global customers  and seen increased cloud technology adoption within legal. The time is right to offer users more deployment options and give firms who previously overlooked Carpe Diem a fresh introduction to our leading timekeeping solution.”

Carpe Diem in the cloud provides enhanced agility and flexibility in timekeeping, with a focus on critical cloud features and benefits:

  • Secure cloud offering: The Microsoft Azure-backed cloud infrastructure enables firms to maintain existing in-house systems and technology architecture without allocating more resources or new capital expenditures.
  • Seamless automatic updates: The cloud model enables periodic, seamless software updates that eliminate disruptions and costs typically associated with traditional client/server upgrades.
  • Subscription-based model: The Carpe Diem cloud model enables firms to easily add and remove users, including quicker ramp-up, and only ever pay for what they use.
  • Higher system availability and resilience in the cloud.
  • Increased data security afforded by the inherent nature of the cloud model.

Tikit first implemented Carpe Diem in the cloud for its own professional services team in early December – they have been successfully using the system on a daily basis since then. Two law firms are already live on the Carpe Diem cloud include leading Kent-based firm Whitehead Monckton and Bristol’s Gregg Latchams Solicitors, with another two firms going live imminently.

According to Richard Hill, Managing Partner at Gregg Latchams, the move to the cloud with Carpe Diem makes business sense: “We are an agile, innovative firm, so moving a mission critical task such as timekeeping to the cloud provides our professionals with a more flexible, modern user experience, all delivered by a leading brand like Tikit Carpe Diem. It was an easy decision.”

Garnish also confirmed Tikit’s on-going investment in the development of Carpe Diem. “We are excited to be announcing the launch of a cloud enabled version of Carpe Diem but our plans don’t end there. We are planning further significant functionality enhancements which we will be launching over the summer – watch this space!”

Tikit will be debuting the Carpe Diem timekeeping cloud solution in conjunction with Legaltech New York and the LegalCIO event taking place at the Hilton New York, February 1-2, 2017.
