Following an application round in January, The College of Legal Practice is delighted to announce their first fully-funded SQE Scholarship holders. The application process attracted a wide variety of applicants, including those from under-represented groups and who face multiple barriers to succeeding in the legal profession.
Our successful SQE Scholarship holders are:
- Trinity Tekassala
- Nataliia Trofunenko
- Patricia Oei
In addition, there is one scholarship holder who shall remain unnamed.
Our first SQE scholarship holder is Trinity Tekassala, originally from Zimbabwe, who is studying on the College’s 40-week SQE1 preparation course. Having self-funded her LLB in lock-down she is now working full-time as a legal assistant in a law firm alongside her study, whilst looking after her two children. Trinity is looking forward to developing her legal knowledge alongside her HR expertise.
Trinity commented, “The scholarship has changed my prospects and I look forward to success with The College of Legal Practice.”
Natalia Trofunenko also secured a SQE scholarship, and she started her preparation for SQE1 in March, having recently completed the College’s law conversion course, the Graduate Foundation in Law. She is Ukrainian and has had very extensive academic and legal practice success in Ukraine.
Lastly, we are pleased to confirm that Patricia Oei has secured a SQE scholarship that allows her to study part-time for the SQE alongside her contracted work at a law firm. She was an award-winning student on her law degree at Royal Holloway, and whilst at university she advocated for social mobility, volunteered and worked part-time to fund her studies.

The College will be opening their next round of SQE scholarships in May 2023 for courses starting from 1st August 2023.
Background
The College’s scholarship scheme is just one example of the College’s ongoing commitment to Diversity and Inclusion. The College also offers scholarships as part of the Law Society Diversity Access Scheme and is collaborating with several partner firms, such as Browne Jacobson and Reed Smith to offer sponsored fully funded places on SQE preparation courses.
