On 9th September, an intrepid team from SearchFlow will be taking part in its first ever Dragon Boat Race to raise money for the company’s nominated charity, the Demelza Hospice in Kent.
A team of 16 from SearchFlow will be taking part in the Tonbridge Dragon Boat Race, which will see at least 10 teams competing against one another on the River Medway. Dragon boating is a fun filled water sports activity where crew members compete in Dragon Boats, which are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon’s heads and tails. Sitting in pairs, the team paddle to compete in multiple timed races over distances of around 250m. To add to the drama, each boat has a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison, and a professional helmsperson in the stern to guide the boat.
Maria Maxwell, Marketing Manager of SearchFlow said: “We have closely supported the Demelza Hospice charity for several years now and are really looking forward to our first attempt at Dragon Boat Racing to help raise further funds. At the launch event for the race at the end of July, we were delighted to win the proceeds from the raffle for our charity and now look forward to adding more to this tally as we embark on our first ever rowing challenge. It’s a great event for a great cause.”
The Demelza Hospice provides care and support for seriously ill children, young people and their families across East Sussex, Kent and South London.
