The very best of the paralegal profession was celebrated at the annual National Paralegal Awards hosted by the Professional Paralegal Register on Thursday 22 September 2022. The awards ceremony, which is now in its fourth year, is now one of the showpiece events in the legal sector calendar, highlighting the important role paralegals play within the legal profession.
The paralegal community from across the country came together at the event, which this year was held at the Grand Hotel in Birmingham to mark the outstanding achievements of both UK firms and individuals.
Master Victoria McCloud was awarded the PPR’s Outstanding Achievement Award for her contribution to improving access to justice, upholding the rule of law through her remarkable achievements as a judge and promoting diversity within the legal sector.
Master Victoria McCloud commented: “Justice, and the delivery of high-quality legal services demand legal professionals with roots deep in real life, giving people confidence and real choice.
We must dig into our genuine and superdiverse society to find our future judges and lawyers. Paralegals are the most diverse and accessible sector in the legal system and so I was delighted to be invited to this event and, as a judge from a minority community myself, who values diversity alongside professionalism, I was deeply honoured to receive the PPR’s Outstanding Achievement Award.”
Amir Ali OBE, PPR President commented: “As someone who started out as a Paralegal back in the 80’s, it is amazing to share the journey, remarkable achievements, and sense of collective worth that Paralegals bring to the table.”
Rita Leat, Managing Director of the PPR commented:
“Once again, we are delighted to have been supported by the legal community to come together and celebrate the work and achievements of Paralegals. It is an honour to host these awards and to witness the outstanding contribution Paralegals make to the legal sector”.
