Continuing to grow, the Legal Eye team are pleased to announce the appointment of their newest member.
Joining as Director of Business Development, Jody Evans is set to bring with her over a decade of professional industry experience.
Starting her career in the legal sector during 2007, Jody was recruited to support a leading executive led law firm in the delivery of ambitious growth plans through law firm acquisition. In the five years spanning her initial role, Jody’s key focus was to assist in the pre-acquisition due diligence and culture and policy integration of the 6 mergers completed over this time. She simultaneously completed the Warwick Diploma in Applied Business Management during this period, building skills which complemented those already gained.
Jody took responsibility for heading the Risk and Compliance Team in 2012. Her prime focus was on the introduction of an effective risk and compliance framework across multiple locations and legal disciplines at a time of continuous change. This began with re-aligning policy, procedure and compliance governance following the introduction of the new SRA code of conduct.
Later she managed projects which included the successful application for the firm to move to an Alternative Business Structure status, leading the firm to become accredited to industry leading Quality (ISO 9001) and Information Security (ISO 27001) standards across all locations, as well as the delivery of a firm wide risk and compliance training and awareness programme. Jody’s wider responsibilities included the oversight of complaints, claims and professional indemnity insurance cover, maintaining a working relationship with regulatory bodies, and the maintenance of a standard risk and compliance policies and procedures. All of this alongside the continued acquisition activity of this top 50 firm.
Passionate about further developing her experience, 2016 saw Jody move into the role of Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for an executive led private equity backed legal services provider. Jody’s key focus was to create a risk and compliance framework spanning five regulated and unregulated businesses. Jody worked with the managing directors and Chief Executive to identify and prioritise the mitigation of areas of vulnerability across the group leading to the creation of a Group level risk and compliance framework. One of the key risks identified was the additional requirements under the General Data Protection Regulations, where Jody introduced a project steering group, process changes, training and awareness to help preparation ahead of the May 2018 deadline.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Jody commented:
