Millennial lawyers – those born between 1980 and 2000 – present new challenges for firms looking to recruit and train them, says this report, “Law and Disorder? Not Necessarily” by Travelers.
Millennials are more empowered than earlier generations, more tech-savvy, more certain about what they want – such as a work/life balance – and are willing to make some sacrifices to get it.
They want an agile and nurturing working environment that will help them learn and develop. But contrary to popular understanding, they are still motivated by income and will work hard and be loyal to the right employer.
Concluding that providing meaningful, rewarding work in a flexible way is most likely to satisfy the next generation of lawyers, the report offers employers tips for hiring and keeping millennial talent.
