Personal injury law firm Express Solicitors has smashed its own turnover target of £60m with its group turnover now coming in at £70.6m, up from £54m in 2023.
Medical reporting agency Ontime Reports, part of the Express Group so part of the total, is up to £11.5m from £7.8m last year.
Express currently has around 24,000 open caseloads.
A recent report on the state on the personal injury market* stated that law firms have been leaving the PI market since 2021 with an estimated 160 firms in England and Wales leaving the sector.
Yet Express, with its entire focus on personal injury claims, including clinical negligence, has gone from strength to strength.
Express Solicitors CEO, James Maxey said: “We set ourselves a target of £60m a few years back but we’ve got there much quicker than even we expected.
“The past financial year has been another amazing year for Express with developments across the whole firm. We continued our recognition as a The Lawyer Top 100 Law Firm, advancing 12 places to #80 from our 2022 position, we’re hoping for an even better result this year.
“Over the course of the year we consolidated our sites and moved to a 40,000ft2 office, which has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment. The offices include a gym and showers, roof garden and multi-faith room and we have had EV chargers installed for use by staff and visitors.
“We also welcomed 17 newly-qualified lawyers via our trainee programme and, with the acquisition of two fellow south Manchester PI firms in 2023, Amelans Solicitors and Jefferies Solicitors, our staff count surpassed 665 and our senior team has been bolstered by new partners.
“We celebrated our first internally-qualified barrister and we’re continuing to develop and nurture our employees – we’ve just promoted a total of 97 employees across the group.
“But that’s not all, we’ve refreshed the brand and have been investing more in digital marketing in a mission to improve the whole client experience.”
Express Solicitors has a Trustpilot rating of 4.7 which significantly beats the personal injury firm average of 2.2 and this year the firm surpassed 6,000 client reviews.
What’s more, the South Manchester firm is currently recruiting and continues to attract a high level of interest from lawyers and non-lawyers across all areas of the business.
