Christina Millan, corporate lawyer and Associate at O’Connors Legal Services Ltd has been awarded the Rising Star Award at this year’s Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards.
Christina beat tough competition to receive the accolade for providing legal excellence to her clients and for the work she is doing in increasing awareness of law as a career amongst young people from BAME backgrounds.
Christina said: “I am really proud to have received the Liverpool Law Society’s Rising Star particularly with so many talented young professionals in this city. It’s fantastic that my work with the Black Lawyers Matter Project in Manchester has been recognised. I really hope that the award will now give me the opportunity to move forward in the next 12 months with my own Legal Step Up Programme that I would like to implement in the Merseyside area. It is my objective to widen participation into the legal sector at grassroots level in schools and youth organisations and put forward what exciting opportunities and careers in law are out there for individuals of all backgrounds.”
Winners were revealed at a ceremony held at the Rum Warehouse on Friday, May 17, marking one of the most important dates of the city’s legal calendar.
Director of O’Connors, Mark O’Connor said: “Christina is a huge asset to our law firm and is a privilege to work with her. We wish her the very best of luck growing and developing the Legal Step Up Programme. We would like to extend our congratulations to every firm shortlisted on the evening and thank the judging panel at Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards.”
