Bikes, Boats & Boots charity challenge – Wednesday 21 September

QuillA note from Quill‘s MD Tom Wormald – Our charity committee has really taken its “go big or go home” mantra to the extreme with our annual challenge! I am proud, and somewhat nervous, to announce our charity event in aid of British Heart Foundation (BHF).

As my first fundraiser as MD and Quill’s first post pandemic, we really have pushed the boat out, both metaphorically and physically speaking.

Our “Bikes, Boats & Boots” adventure gives our fundraising team, which includes me, a 12-hour window to undertake these three stages:

  1. Bikes – Cycling 40 miles circumnavigating Skiddaw and Bassenthwaite Lake while ascending a total of 861 metres.
  2. Boats – Canoeing two miles across Derwentwater in Keswick.
  3. Boots – Hiking an epic 12-miles up a steep, rocky, gravel path on Skiddaw; reaching 3,000 feet.

We don’t do things by halves, so to complete the picture we’re asking our customers, friends and suppliers to enter the challenge to enhance our fundraising potential and support the good work which the BHF does to save lives from some of the world’s deadliest illnesses.

We need you! Covid has had a detrimental impact on all charities. They rely upon your donations now more than ever to recover from the fundraising limitations of the past two years. To donate, please visit our secure JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/quill-bbb.

If you’d like to take things a step further and take part, please send an email to Karen Heggie, the chair of our charity committee, at charity@quill.co.uk requesting more information by Monday 18 July. This is an organised and insured event exclusively for Quill and our friends, so places are limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis.

A HUGE thank you in advance for your financial backing and active involvement in this monumental charity fundraising event. Your support means the world to us and to the BHF.
