Agility gives smaller firms the edge to digitise conveyancing process faster

By Legal Futures Associate InfoTrack

Small firms are increasing their digital adoption faster than medium and larger firms according to new data from from the 2024 Digital Conveyancing Maturity Index. More than half of the top 10% of high scoring firms in the 2024 Index are small firms with 25 or fewer employees.

The Digital Conveyancing Maturity Report 2024 is the latest instalment of the ongoing initiative launched by InfoTrack in 2022 and shares the updated progress of digital adoption among conveyancers in England and Wales. The report revealed small firms are charging ahead with employing new technologies to manage their conveyancing process, afforded by increased agility due to fewer decision makers and quicker rollout and training schedules due to lower staff volumes.

More than one third of the top scoring cohort were also conveyancing specialists – firms where 75% or more of their business is conveyancing. In 2022, conveyancing specialist firms represented just 23% of the high scorers, showing that specialists are driving change faster within their firms.

The top scoring digital champions of conveyancing for 2024 are small and medium-sized firms as follows:

  • First place: Bell Lamb & Joynson
  • Second: Eden Conveyancing
  • Third: Bookers & Bolton

A complete list of the top achievers can be found on the website, including category leaders for small, medium and large firms, as well as conveyancing specialists.

Several firms who scored highly or made sizeable improvements to their score since 2022 will be joining a webinar to share insights into how conveyancers can improve their scores, make the most of their technology, and discover which digital tools are having the biggest impact on delivering better experiences for conveyancers and their clients. The webinar is being held on Wednesday 20 March at 2:00pm. Register your place now.
