Adding to this, later in 2025 the Law Commission will begin its consultation on Rights and Obligations Relating to Funerary Methods, Funerals and Remains. They will be looking at Local Authority practice. The commission intends to issue a report in 2027 alongside a draft Bill, which will also incorporate reforms to burial and cremation law.
Those undertaking this vital role need to be prepared for the changes that are coming ensuring their respective authorities carry out a good service that provides value for money for residents.
